What We Do
MICROSUCTION
The safest and cleanest way to remove ear wax from moderately blocked ears is the micro suction method. A probe is gently inserted then connected to a vacuum pump to suction out the excess wax from the ear canal.
Otoscope
An otoscope is a tool which shines a beam of light to help visualise and examine the condition of the ear canal and eardrum. Examining the ear can reveal the cause of symptoms such as an earache, the ear feeling full or hearing loss.
Irrigation
Warm water irrigation, gently removes the wax by using a controlled, low pressure water jet which is angled towards the ear canal wall rather than the actual blockage (which may push the wax deeper and cause discomfort or ear pain)
WHAT IS EAR WAX
Ear wax (or cerumen) is perfectly normal secretion of the ear canal. It is an important part of our ears’ function, lubricating the ear canal and providing natural protection against bacteria, water, dust and other foreign bodies.
Our ears are generally self-cleaning so small amounts of wax will work their way out of the ear naturally. However, a build-up of excess ear wax can occasionally occur, meaning professional ear wax removal is necessary.
Excess ear wax build up can happen due to things like prolonged use of headphones, ear plugs, or extensive self cleaning of the ears (with cotton buds or other unsafe implements).
